In the U.S., BA.5 has become the most common strain and is causing a big rise in cases. In Europe, the number of new COVID-19 infections has tripled in the past six weeks. The CDC still recommends that people get tested before boarding flights back to the US. The COVID-19 vaccines already approved in the US work in a more familiar way. The Novavax vaccine is made from proteins, like many other vaccines used around the world. “COVID-19 cases are on the rise again,” the CDC director says. Tourists will be monitored for exposure to COVID, the coronavirus that causes the 19-pandemic. Drug overdose deaths rose by 30% overall, but they rose by 44% among black people and 39% among Native Americans. Injected vaccines saved 20 million lives in their first year of use.
